So I suppose the title says it all. I'll be attending the Midnight Release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and will be playing well into the night and all the following day. Unfortunately I have to wait for some peeps who will not be waiting in line to get the game during the day, so I'll be flying through the single player on Veteran, but if anyone wants to set up a party and play multiplayer send me an invite.

Who else is picking it up at Midnight?

Sadly I probably won't be buying this since I wanted it for PC and well, you know the story there. I'll probably rent it for xbox 360 via gamefly...but who knows how long that'll take.
On second thought, I'll probably buy it used.
I won't even look at MW2 when it releases.

Heard more interesting tidbits... Leaning is not available, because it wasn't balanced. But they can have a tactical nuke that'll end the map at a 25 kill streak! There's balance for ya!

And that griefer who's talking crap to everyone in game? Can't kick him. You can mute him though! And he started teamkilling? Turn on damage reflect! on the next game...

And what about that cheater whose new cheat gets by VAC? can't kick him either. But IW wants to remove cheaters from the game.

Mmhmm... Yeah, MW2 is failtastic.

Oh, and the PC version isn't a total console port because "it has mouse controls, in-game chat and custom video settings."
@Torinir Serious rage there bro.
Lol, whoops. Sorry Torinir, I forgot you were the one who was pissed at IW ;-)
I agree though, IW totally /quit on the PC community. I would be pissed if I was solely planning on purchasing MW2 for the PC.
I'm far from the only one who's felt the shiv in the back from IW. But read the Best Buy live chat transcript.
I hate Call of Duty games, i find them lacking a great many things
Call Of Duty lacks nothing
@HighSimSim I shall be picking it up at midnight I'm not waiting lol. I was thinking about playing through the single player first but I don't know yet.
@Torinir I understand where your coming from but a great many PC players are to blame for the way the PC version turned out. Not saying you, but majority of PC players actually bitched about not having matchmaking so the easiest way to do so was how they have done it. You can't blame IW for trying something new especially when the PC community asked for it.
@kanashi All of the PC community? Funny. IW never asked the PC gamers. They asked the consolers. Guess what? MW2 is a shoddy console port. And I do mean shoddy.

@Torinir You should wait until the game actually comes out (Not pirated.) And then make a decision. Everyone is jumping the high horse because something isn't perfect and they have already said that they have no problem in trying to change things if people (after they have actually played the game) don't like something.

Even myself as a console player have some doubt and some things I don't like, but I'm still going to at least try it, if it sucks there is bound to be someone out there without a copy that would buy it back off of me. I don't think it will though so just give a chance before you push it away.
@kanashi I prefer multiplayer for COD/BF. The SP campaigns are notoriously short. And Peer to Peer on PC doesn't work. Hasn't since the original Quake. Dedicated servers are a must-have if they want a multiplayer vs game to survive even 6 months.

And never say that the consoles never had dedicated servers. Bad Company had dedicated servers for consoles. Yes, DICE gets my money. They're making sure that all gamers get the best possible online experience. With dedicated servers. No host changes on disconnect, no 100+ pings to the host's 0 ping, just smooth gameplay all the time.

We'll see, however, when IW actually finishes making the game for PC. (Still isn't finished, according to them) But I'm not going to waste my money on it, since it currently has nothing I'm looking for in a multiplayer experience. I'm not going to shell out $60 for a game and not be able to recover the full amount.

Unlike the console versions, demand for MW2 PC is going to be next to none. I know of no one in my area who plays PC games who has said they would buy this game for PC. At all.
I still don't like Cal of Duty games = P
@Torinir Ryan-IW: We understand your concern for the PC version as it is a very important topic. We keep our loyalties to making good games. Fun games that people can play worldwide and on multiple platforms. We feel that most or all of your questions will be answered on November 10. We had a blast developing this game for the last two years.

Not trying to sound rude or make this a big fight. I really do understand what your talking about but the game isn't even out and your putting it down. Let them try it this way. If it doesn't work they are more than willing to put dedicated servers back into play. And I never said anything about console games not having dedicated servers, Rainbow Six has them.
@Mishy You already said this, please refrain from repeating yourself. =) I enjoy others opinions but posting it more than once like this is heading towards trolling.
Lol, I think Mishy was just trying to lighten teh moodzorz.
Lol that is fine, I'm not mad and I hope Torinir isn't mad =/. I just think that people need to understand how hard it is to tailor a game for such a broad audience and for the amount of people wanting to play it. It is like trying to shoot a shark with a bb gun.
I was once a PC gamer myself in my early years, and I even find myself getting back into it more and more as of late. When I finally nail a job and secure an income I will most likely purchase a custom built PC so I can play the games I want too. I know how important dedicated servers are, and the loss of advanced customization such as console commands and technical tweaking are also an issue. It's like I said, if my PC were my primary gaming platform I would be pissed at IW as well, but then again there are probably other games currently out or coming soon that are more lucrative to PC gamers besides MW2 (unlike for console gamers for which MW2 is one of the biggest releases this year). I honestly don't like what IW did to PC gamers cause I remember how it was being a PC gamer and how important all those features are to a community. I just don't think it's right for them to do what they did to their community, and the PC community as a whole. These features are pretty much inherent to PC gaming, and being forced to play without them is forcing console-style gaming on a community that has flourished on customization and personalization for years.

But, even though this has all happened, I am indeed curious to see what will come of this. I want to see how successful IW.net is, what the thoughts are of those clans who decide to play MW2 PC, etc. And as @kanashi said, if it all goes horribly wrong, hopefully IW will listen to the masses and change their product.
@HighSimSim I too still PC game, but yes I agree with what your saying. No one seems to be listening to the IW developers though because they keep saying "Let us launch the game first." They need to actually have people PLAY the game and then retrieve feed back so that they can make changes. If they want to try something new they are allowed to it is THEIR game.

I think dedicated servers would work better, and if anything keep what they have now and still allow for dedicated servers. That would be the best option in my opinion.
Nope. I've seen 402 try to spin IWNet off positively, but he and IW refused to provide straight answers to us when drilled on the hard questions. I don't trust him, and I don't trust IW. September 22, 2009 saw 402 say in an interview that "PC will be the same as it always was."

You've seen all the changes that were made from MW1. Should I trust IW?

No straight answers to PC gamers questions and we'll call it creative misinformation for the rest. IW set an expectation for us PC gamers back in September, and they waited until 3 WEEKS BEFORE RELEASE to fully contradict themselves.

I suspect that, were it not for 402 letting it out on that Bash And Slash podcast that they were not putting in dedicated servers for MW2, IW would have waited until release and suckered everyone in with their misleading statement in September.

No, my trust in Infinity Ward is absolute zero. It would take pretty much the firing of the entire executive group and 402 for me to have any hope of regaining that trust in their company. And that is something of greater importance than a patch or a feature.
= P yep mood lightner you got me what ever shall i do
*pours Mishy some coffee*
*puts some marshmallows in Mishy's coffee*
mmm... marshmallows!
i haz coffee? lol why did i get coffee all of a sudden? lolo
I don't think the issue has anything to really do with them trying out new things...it has to do with removing great features that were already in the older games. The only real added feature for pc, that I've seen, is the IW.net system...which adds matchmaking and a party system. Great stuff, but at what cost? The pro/con list just doesn't seem to add up positively. If you lose more than you gain you can't expect people to be happy.

I certainly wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the game is going to be bad as a result, however, even as a good game it would be a blow to the pc community. As a result, backlash is appropriate...in my opinion.
I won't be getting it on release. I'll wait for a price drop.
@Torinir Alright you got your opinion across plenty, that still doesn't mean you should hate them for trying something different. You don't have to buy the game, but please don't make this seem like it is easy to do. Making a game is some hard shit and when it is (again) made for such a broad audience and abundance of people it is even harder to please everyone. The game is a 360 title and always has been. PS3 players and PC players may feel shafted but they shouldn't IW put their time and money into making things just for both. Dedicated servers are good but a lot of people besides clans had trouble finding good servers or instantly went to the best connected server. They will no doubt put Dedicated servers back into the game after they see what has happened.

Seriously let them launch the game before all this hate is fired their direction. It is sickening how much complaining people are doing and the game isn't even out.
@kanashi MW2 is on the same engine as MW1. A modified id tech 3 core. Is it that difficult to recycle a lot of the code from MW1 and make some changes here and there?
I will get it Tuesday night. I am getting to old to stay up all night when I have to get up for work at 5 a.m.
@Torinir It isn't the same engine it's developed off of the same engine. They did a fresh wipe and started from scratch so that everything would be built correctly and work properly. It isn't about recycling the code, I don't know what your relations are to creating games or programming but it is not a walk in the park for something this large. What I am pointing at though isn't the programmers its the designers who are in charge of the way the project unfolds. They are the ones that have to place content in the game that please all audiences and shape the way the game will be made.

I just suggest relaxing and waiting for a close friend to get the game and ask how it is. If no one you know on PC gets the game then you could always go with ratings based on random internet lolz but that would be silly.
Yea, waiting for the price-drop/rental-opportunity. Unless I get it free whilst purchasing the limited edition Xbox360 so I have more HDD space. I keep filling up that 12GB. And if Im' going to upgrade...... friggin' upgrade right?
